I am adding a bathroom with a shower in my basement and need to add a bathroom fan. My plan was to go straight out the side wall but my dad has expressed concerns that the warm and wet air will freeze and form a big ball of ice on the outside of the vent. Has anyone dealt with this before? Is the concern legitimate? Trying to add an exhaust fan to a basement bathroom. My options are 1) going up to the roof via a 2x4 wall or 2) buying a 4 1/4" masonry hole saw and going through the rim joist and out the brick façade.
